Toronto Catholic District School Board

Waste Management Presentation

On Friday, May 11th, all classes attended a waste management presentation in the gym organized by the City of Toronto. The focus of the presentation was to understand which waste goes into the garbage, recycling or green bin. Did you know that most things people put into the garbage are actually recyclable items? Did you also know that 40 tonnes of garbage is brought to the land fill from Toronto every single day? The land fill is a large open-cut garbage can. The land fill will fill up in about 11 years. Then Toronto will have nowhere to deposit its garbage. That is why we are being educated to know which bins we place our garbage, recycling and food stuffs.
