Grade Five Legislative Assembly Visit

Precious Blood School – Ms. Stoneburgh and Ms. Gill’s grade 5 classes visited the Ontario Legislature on Friday February 1, 2019.
The trip to the Ontario Legislature was great! We learned some very interesting facts about the history of the building and history of Ontario. We learned how provincial debates work and even got to see a live example of university students debating in a mock parliament. We had an exciting opportunity to participate in our own class debates! We learned about the devastating fire in 1909 that destroyed the west wing of the legislative building. Thankfully, the building was restored with materials such as fire resistant marble, and remains the home to 124 members of Ontario provincial parliament. The building is an architectural wonder filled with beautiful sculptures, paintings, art and rich in Ontario and Canadian history.
