Learning Online Safety
On Tuesday, September 24th and Thursday, September 26th, Officer Wendy Forest from Toronto Police visited Precious Blood CS to deliver a presentation on the topic of Online Safety and Cyberbullying. During the presentation Officer Forest reminded the students of what to do and what not to do online. Students were also informed about the dangers of cyberbullying and how to prevent it. It was most important for the students to realize that texting and/or communicating with strangers online can lead to hidden dangers concerning one's safety.
Through a series of True or False questions, students were able to think and reflect upon how they approach their presence online. The internet is a very random and public place where anyone is capable of saving or keeping one's photos, even if they have been deleted. At the end of the session, Officer Forest's final message was for all students to be vigilant and be careful with what they choose to do online.
