Student Led Learning Walk

Students will guide visitors ou through a continuum of learning focused on Mathematics, Patterning and Algebra , 21st C Competencies, SEF 1.4 (Descriptive Feedback)…and much more visible and engaging learning!

Drop in anytime during the day from Tuesday June 17th to Friday June 20th and experience this collaborative and community strengthening practice. It is our hope that you will be inspired to engage in, and/or support a SLLW in the fall of 2014 in your educational community…we believe that we are well positioned to transform school cultures across our province through Student Led Learning Walks!
The Student Led Learning Walk is a collaborative, innovative, community and pedagogical approach to school-wide engagement with intricacies and complexities that are grounded in data, research and learning skills necessary for the 21st Century learner. The Student Led Learning Walk is an organic structure created and designed to be responsive to the broad educational life of learning communities and specific goals outlined in school improvement plans. The Student Led Learning Walk situates student learning in context enabling families to interact with, witness, understand and support a continuum of learning expectations. Collaboration, Knowledge Construction, Real-World Problem Solving and Innovation, Skilled Communication, Student Engagement and use of ICT are integral parts of student learning. We envision all our schools journeying together and creating the conditions to engage in Student Led Learning Walks as a matter of routine practice… a place where cultures are transformed and learning comes alive. An inspiring ethic of excellence is emerging that is grounded in a community vision that embodies excellence in education and excellence in learning! The SLLW integrates learners of focus based on data, school learning improvement plans, board learning improvement plans, SEF, 21st Century Competencies, Curriculum, Inquiry, Parent Engagement, Teacher Practice, Student Engagement and Voice, Community Knowledge Building, Ontario Leadership Framework, and much more.
