Students to Relocate to Estate House

Update: February 3, 2017

For Monday February 6, 2017, students will be relocated to the Estate House. Details here:

February 3, 2017

Dear Parent/Guardian:

In the last communication we shared with you on December 20th, we advised that the portable move had to be postponed to the new year due to site conditions and delays with acquiring a building permit, with the balance of work to be completed in the spring when the weather is warmer.

Once the Board received the building permit, staff met on site with the tradespeople and movers to review the possibility of moving and installing the portables in early January as planned.
Unfortunately, the civil engineers advised against the move because, due to the mild weather, the ground is not sufficiently frozen, and up until this week was too wet. Based on the current conditions, the earliest estimates for moving the portable would be in May.
Cognizant of the ongoing accommodation pressures at the school, staff continued to work with the engineers and architects throughout the fall and winter to prepare for the safe return of students to the Estate House.
Following their investigation, they, along with our Health and Safety Department, have confirmed that the Estate House can be reoccupied starting Monday, February 6th. Staff will complete a final cleaning and move over the weekend.
Further work is planned for the Estate House over the summer including waterproofing, as well as repair and restoration of the areas which were damaged by water.

Your patience is greatly appreciated and we will provide additional information as it becomes available.
