Isn't it time to offer adolescents a pathway to success in school that's proven to inspire and motivate kids to keep on learning? Isn't it time to try more innovative ways to address the challenges of education.
Ten Student Expectationsexpectations.jpg

This is the direction we should all be going and it's what teaching and learning should involve every day.  It’s not all about academics - it's about relationships.  Also, please do keep in mind that teaching is definitely not easy, but it is a joy and passion that not everyone can or should do.

Rita Pierson, a teacher for 40 years, once heard a colleague say, "They don't pay me to like the kids." Rita's response: "Kids don't learn from people they don't like.“
A rousing call to educators to believe in their students and actually connect with them on a real, human, personal level ... Life is all about relationships and school is no different!

The Toronto Star: Education guru, Paul Tough, says grit is the true secret to student successPaul-Tought-with-book.jpg
Paul Tough (who wrote How Children Succeed: Grit, Curiosity, and the Hidden Power of Character ) said we've long focussed on cognitive skills as the most important key to success. But Tough said researchers have started to identify other skills that matter - "grit," curiosity, conscienctiousness, self-control. Some call these "character traits," the business world calls them "executive functions" (Note: Commonly referred to in education as Character Traits, Virtues, Work Habits and Learning Skills)
