Toronto Catholic District School Board

Principal's Message

St. Ambrose Catholic School is a vibrant school community whose stakeholders are committed to focusing on improved student achievement.  Our very active and dedicated members of our Catholic School Parent Council (CSPC) work closely with the school staff in providing many program supports.

Over the past number of years, our CSPC has provided funding to support: curriculum based areas such as Science, Visual Arts, Drama and Dance and Bully Prevention presentations through in-school workshops; time-management and communication skills through the provision of yearly agendas for all students in grades 1-8; enrichment opportunities through excursions by covering the costs of buses for classroom trips; celebrations for Sacraments and Graduations; purchases of various technology hardware; guest speakers for students and parents. It is through the on-going, collaboration between parents and staff that we are able to provide an enriched learning opportunity for all of our students.

In addition to the enriched curriculum opportunities, we offer our students a large variety of extra- and co-curricular activities throughout the year.  All students are given opportunities to participate in various athletic activities through interschool and house league programs. As well, we offer a variety of clubs/teams, including: Choir; Eco Club; W5H Teams; Student Leadership Team; ME to We Committee; HAT.

Every year, our junior students partake in our annual ski trip to Mount St. Louis. Our Intermediate students are given the opportunity to go on a 3-day, overnight excursion to either Camp Muskoka (Grade 7's) or Ottawa/Montreal (Grade 8's).  Here, they not only experience enriched curriculum-related opportunities, but they partake in community-building. These co-curricular opportunities allow our young people to expand their knowledge and experiences in community, while creating very fond memories.

Our Catholic faith is at the core of all we do at St. Ambrose.  From the daily prayers led by different students each day, for the entire school, to our special monthly masses prepared by different classes each time, to our monthly virtue assemblies, our Gospel values are at the forefront.  Charitable work done throughout the year, be it fundraisers for various organizations such as: the Angel Foundation Breakfast programs; Share Life; to various "Drives" such as food and clothing for: St. Vincent de Paul; CCAS Sweet Read; St. Francis Table; CCAS and Dr. Simone's Canadian Food for Children. Our students and families truly represent a generous, giving community of service to others.  We are very proud of all of our community members!
