Agnes Macphail Public Speaking Contest

Congratulations to all competitors representing the TCDSB at the annual Agnes Macphail Public Speaking Contest. The contest was open to East York and area students in Grades 6, 7, and 8.

Local teachers and their students prepared for the event by holding in-school public speaking contests to determine the finalist to speak on February 16, 2018. The contest honours Agnes Macphail, Canada's first female member of Parliament and the first female MPP to seat in the Ontario Legislature. Macphail, a teacher and strong public speaker, promoted student public speaking contests.

TCDSB Trustee Angela Kennedy was on hand to witness the public speaking, along with staff and parents from St. Anselm and St. Brigid Catholic Schools.
Congratulations to St. Anselm student, Maeve Pestonji who was declared the winner of this year’s contest.
