As of September 2011 all elementary schools in the Toronto Catholic District School Board implemented a mandatory appropriate dress code. St. Barnabas implemented the dress code in September 2010. Here is a review of what is acceptable wear at school:
• The dress code consists of any combination of white and navy blue garments (e.g. plain white top, navy blue bottom or, navy blue top and bottom, no denim or t-shirts);
• Collared shirts only. Shirts must not have any logos or graphics including stripes;
• Sweater or hoodies must be white or navy blue including the laces and must not have any logos or graphics including stripes;
• No school jerseys or t-shirts are permitted;
• All shorts and skirts must be fingertip length or longer. Only walking shorts are permitted. No students are allowed to wear their pants low which is known as low riding;
• A change of clothing for Physical Education classes is strongly recommended for students in Grade 4 to 8. Students can wear any combination of colours for the classes including t-shirts, shorts or school jerseys;
