St. Bernard School has implemented programs from junior kindergarten to grade 8 which are consistent with Ministry of Education documents. Our exceptional students are serviced through Special Education classes, a Closed Learning Disabilities class and English as a second language classes.
Here at St. Bernard, classroom programs focus on the individual needs of all of our students.  Teachers strive and work collaboratively with each other and program specialists to provide differentiated learning opportunities so that every student’s needs are met.  Parents and community volunteers are welcomed and participate in providing various learning opportunities for our students.
Our French program services grades 1-8. In addition to the French program, the International Languages Program offers students the opportunity of learning about the culture and language of either Italian or Spanish. They receive one half hour of instruction which extends our learning day by thirty minutes.
Students that need support in English language acquisition are serviced by our English Language Learners Department.  Students are withdrawn from their regular program and receive intensive language instruction in a small group setting.
The library technician and teachers work cooperatively to provide students with learning experiences that promote literacy using a cross-curricular approach. The teaching of Media Literacy and research skills are integrated with the teaching of technological skills.
A computer centre in the library and computers in individual classrooms provide the students with the opportunity to become computer literate and to integrate the computer in their daily work.
Our primary and junior students receive vocal music instruction and our intermediate students are given the opportunity to learn to play a band instrument. Our students have a chance to showcase what they have learned at school assemblies and events.  We take pride in our learning and celebrate our milestones year after year as we grow together in a learning community rooted in our Faith.
