#WearYourHelmet Campaign Launch

Staff and students at St. Bernard Catholic School welcomed friends from Toronto Police Services and Toronto Public Health on September 18th to launch the #WearYourHelmet campaign - an ongoing effort to ensure young people wear helmets on their bicycles to prevent injury.
The campaign aims to empower parents and students with information on the importance of wearing helmets, and is a joint initiative by the City of Toronto, Toronto Public Health, The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids), the Toronto Catholic District School Board and Toronto Police Service.
Students from St. Bernard participated in a bicycle safety rodeo following speeches from our partners on the importance of wearing helmets when cycling.
TCDSB Director, Rory McGuckin, shared: “At Toronto Catholic, we aim to educate our students about the realities affecting their lives today, including the risk of concussions from physical injury. With the help of the 2019 Ontario Health and Physical Education curriculum, we’re proud to provide our students with the skills and knowledge they need to lead safe, healthy and active lives, including wearing a properly fitted helmet.”
