The Faith Cross

 On Wednesday, January 9th the staff and students of St. Bernard were pleased to welcome the Faith Cross. The months of preparation and anticipation culminated with a mass on the 10th.

We were all happy to be part of this reverent, spiritual event.

Christmas Food Drive

We are pleased to announce that we exceeded our projected goal for our Christmas food drive thanks to the generosity of all the members of our St. Bernard community. This is a living example of the true spirit of Christmas at work.

Santa Comes to St. Bernard

The students at St. Bernard school enjoyed breakfast, singing and a visit from Santa Claus on Friday, December 14th. Thank you to

CSAC, all our parent volunteers, Ms Osti, Mr. Peluso and all the St.Bernard staff who worked hard to make this day a wonderful treat

for our students.

Police/Teachers Versus Students Volleyball

We continue our efforts to create community and school partnerships at St. Bernard school with our montly police and teachers versus students volleyball game. Communtiy officers, teachers, and students enjoy this friendly rivalry.

Bullying Awareness and Prevention Symposium

A small delegation of administration, teachers, parents and students from St. Bernard attended the Bullying Awareness and Prevention Symposium on November 21. This informative and entertaining event reinforced our school initiatives, provided ideas and tools for new projects and re-energized our continuous efforts to make St. Bernard a warm, nurturing community.

Ontario Science Centre

The grade four students attended the Science Centre on November 19, 2012. As part of our upcoming Science Unit, the students enjoyed watching and participating in the Light and Sound presentation. We all had a great day as there was much to see and do!

Toronto Police Discuss Cyberbullying

 On Tuesday, November 13th, police officers from the 12th Division and members of the St. Bernard community met to raise awareness and 

discuss prevention of bullying and cyberbullying. St. Bernard is committed to its community and school partnerships and equipping parents

with the necessary tools and information to help in maintaining a safe, warm and welcoming school community.

 A Visit from our MPP

The grade 5 students had an excellent visit from our MPP Ms. Laura Albanese on Friday, November 9th. Mr. Milling and Mrs. DiLorenzo's classes invited Ms. Albanese to speak about her role as an MPP. We are very grateful for her time and patience in answering so many questions!

Gr. 5 Visit to the Ontario Legislative Building

On October 2nd, 2012 the grade 5 classes visited the Ontario Legislative Building. The tour consisted of watching a live debate from the public gallery and a guided tour of the historic building. The students enjoyed participating in a debate and scavenger hunt outside the building on the beautiful grounds of Queens Park.

ST. Bernard Shoe Drive

The St. Bernard Ambassadors under the leadership of Ms. Harling and Mr. Tran organized a shoe collection for Dr. Simone's Canadian Food for Children charity. The St. Bernard community donated 268 pairs of shoes which will be shipped to developing countries all over the world. We are proud to support this worthwhile charity.



 

Frisbee Team Wins Second Place!
 
 
Congratulations to the first ever St. Bernard Ultimate Frisbee team for placing second in their tournament. Your coach and school are very proud of you!
