School Construction Update
August 30, 2013
Dear parent/guardian:
On behalf of the teachers and staff, I am pleased to inform you St. Bonaventure Catholic School will open as usual for our first day of classes on Tuesday, September 3, 2013.  I am also happy to report that our school has passed all the necessary City of Toronto inspections for new building construction.
Every effort was made to ensure all construction was completed during the summer months before the beginning of the school year. Unfortunately, due to the severe damage to hundreds of schools across the city caused by the flooding in July, and the high number of building projects related to the Ontario government funding of Full-Day Kindergarten, construction schedules were delayed in both TCDSB and the Toronto public school board. Consequently, some building details will need to be completed over the course of the next few weeks. Contingency plans have been developed to minimize any disruption to classes and regularly scheduled programming for our students as this minor work is completed.
The safety of our students and staff is always our top priority. So, I am requesting that parents NOT use the school driveway for student drop off. Instead, parents should continue to use the Botanical Gardens parking lot for this purpose. We also wish remind parents to follow posted signs and ensure that children are walked safely to the sidewalk. The north walkway will be open for pedestrian entrance into the school yard play area. On the first day (Tuesday), staff will be providing direction to students when it is time to connect with their classroom teachers.
We are especially excited about the beginning of this particular school year because of this state-of-the-art addition to our facilities, which is part of  the Toronto Catholic District School Board’s unprecedented five-year, $403 million investment to improve learning environments for its students.
Thank you for your patience and continued support of all the great things that are happening here at St. Bonaventure.
Should you have any questions, please feel free to contact the school office.
