Safe Arrival Program
A safe arrival program is in place to ensure the safe arrival of all students at school.  If a child is going to be late or absent, please call the school prior to the beginning of the school day.  If no one is available to answer the phone, you can leave a message on the school phone mail system.  If you know in advance that your child will be absent, please send a note to the student’s teacher.  The school will contact the parents of those students who are not accounted for; however, the time used to make these calls could be better spent for your children, so it is important to keep the school informed of absences or late arrivals.  More importantly, precious time is taken if a real emergency does arise.
Lateness can very disruptive to classroom routines and the learning of everyone.  Please be sure that your child is here for 8:30 a.m. and 12:15 p.m.
We endeavor to maintain a safe supervised environment for our students.  Supervision is provided during the recreation periods of the regular school day.  We, however, are most concerned about students who arrive on school board property before 8:15 a.m. as they are unsupervised by an adult.  For your child’s safety we recommend that you ensure your child does not arrive on school property before 8:15 a.m.
Young children who do not go home by bus should be picked up at 3:00 p.m.
If your child is to leave or be picked up from school earlier than 3:00 p.m., please notify the office either in person, in writing or by telephone.  Particularly if someone other than the immediate family is picking up your child.  The office secretary will then advise the classroom teacher of your request and call for your child to come to the office.  Please note that students must be picked up at the office and signed out.
We do not have a lunchroom at St. Bruno Catholic School.  Therefore, students who are required to stay for lunch will eat in the classroom.  Students who stay for lunch are not permitted to leave the school grounds.  Students who abuse this privilege will be excluded from the supervised lunch period.  If parents are at home during the day it is strongly recommended that non-bus students go home for lunch.
Students staying for lunch are not to leave the school property to purchase their lunch.  However, if they must do so (on an infrequent basis), they are to provide a parental note to the teacher/office signed and dated each time they leave the school property to purchase a lunch.
Students who remain at school will have lunch in the class from 11:15 a.m. to 11:35 a.m. and will then be dismissed to the yard for supervised recess.
Students who go home for lunch or go out for lunch are to return to school by 12:15 p.m.  Students returning earlier should arrive after 11:35 a.m. when there is yard supervision.
For everyone’s safety and comfort the following is expected from each students staying for lunch.
