Proaction Cops & Kids annual fundraiser

Students posing with Police OfficersOn Friday , April 24, 2015, The St. Cecilia "Push Pawns not Each Other" Chess Club, participated in the Proaction Cops & Kids annual fundraiser event. This organization pairs police officers with students, to establish positive relationships between cops and kids at risk in order to strengthen our community today and for the future by creating an environment of mutual respect and understanding. Connections between police and kids are made with a view to increasing community safety while supporting young people to reach their full potential. At the event, the students discussed how this program has helped them become better citizens and truly embody our Catholic Graduate Expectations. They spoke with Police Chief Mark Saunders, Former Police Chief Bill Blair, and former TFCs soccer player Dwayne De Rosario about the positive impact this program has had on them and discussed how the program at their school has helped them develop leadership skills, understanding, make responsible decisions, and much more. Finally, they played chess with various guests including Dwayne De Rosario. A special thank you to Officer Eric Berridge for bringing this program to our school.
