The Tour for Humanity made a special visit to the Davenport Area on Monday, November 28th. Co-hosted by MPP Cristina Martins, the tour was launched at St. Clare Catholic School and will be making stops at several TCDSB sites.

The Tour for Humanity, presented by Friends of Simon Wiesenthal Center for Holocaust Studies, is a fully self-contained mobile classroom that educates students in grades 3-12 in a highly interactive environment. MPP Martins has been working with the Friends of Simon Wiesenthal Center for Holocaust Studies (FSWC) for over a year to have the Tour for Humanity Bus come to the Davenport area. The Davenport Bus tour was specially tailored to focus on the story of Portuguese Hero, Aristides de Sousa Mendes. As a member of the Portuguese community, MPP Martins wanted to feature Aristides de Sousa Mendes' story as an example of one of the many voices in history that spoke up against hate and intolerance.

The Tour for Humanity inspires and empowers students to raise their voices and take action against hate to help make the world a better place. The mobile human rights education center teaches students, educators, community leaders and front-line professionals about topics of diversity, democracy and Canadian civic rights and responsibilities.

The St. Clare Catholic School community is grateful to MPP Martins and the Friends of Simon Weisenthal Center for Holocaust Studies for this unique educational opportunity.
