(May 2019)

May is here… let’s hope that the snow and ice are finally gone for good!
Our school will be participating in Spring Walk to School Day on Friday May, 10th. Students will be encouraged to walk, run, or bike to school! The two classes with the highest percentage of “walkers” will win a pizza party, courtesy of CSPC. Please keep your eye out for more information.

CSPC is pleased to announce that the ELP play structure has now been installed! Prior to the renovation, CSPC allocated fundraising dollars to go towards the purchase of a play structure for our school’s kindergarten students. Having waited through construction and then this long winter, the arrival of Spring meant that the play structure was able to be installed. Parents should be proud to see their CSPC fundraising dollars at work! We hope that the play structure gets enjoyed by many generations of ELP students to come
CSPC continues to focus on student mental health and awareness. Please save the date of Tuesday, May 14th at 7pm to join your fellow parents for a special CSPC/Ontario Ministry of Education Pro-Grant Presentation by Karen Skinulis, registered psychotherapist and Director of the Ontario Parenting Education Centre. Karen will be speaking on the topic of "Childhood Anxiety and Beyond". Please note that this evening talk is for parents only. If you would like to attend, please RSVP to Pro Grant Co-ordinator and CSPC Co-Chair Katie Piccininni at cspc.stclement@tcdsb.org.

This year’s Staff Appreciation Luncheon will be taking place on Wednesday, May 15th. This is a chance for our parent community to show appreciation to our wonderful teachers and staff – by providing them with a yummy breakfast and lunch! In order to make this happen… we need parent volunteers for both school and yard duty that day (so that the teachers are free to come and enjoy the goodies!). As well, we’re asking parents to please donate food items (either homemade or store-bought; all nut-free please) for breakfast or lunch that day. Please email lisalippa@rogers.com to sign up and keep an eye out for more details to come. We thank all of you in advance for supporting this important event!

CSPC Co-Chair Jenn Casuccio has undertaken the organization of this year’s school yearbook, which will include photography by our wonderful teaching staff. Order forms to purchase the yearbook have been sent out and are due no later than Monday, May 6th. Don’t miss out on this memorable keepsake!
As we mentioned in the last newsletter, CSPC’s Fun Fair Committee has been working hard to plan an upcoming Fun Fair for our school. However, due to some scheduling and permit issues, it has been decided that this fun event will be held in the Fall instead. Look for more information on what will be a fabulous day!
For those participating, don’t forget that this month’s Pizza Lunches are being held on Friday, May 10th and Friday, May 24th. This month’s Subway Lunch will take place on Thursday, May  23rd.

Our final CSPC meeting of the year will combine our May and June meetings and will take place on Tuesday, May 28th. Hope to see many of you there!
