Toronto Catholic District School Board

CSPC - Catholic School Parent Council

(October 2017)

We hope that all of you enjoyed a spooktacular Hallowe’en!

As November begins, so does our QSP magazine drive! Your child will be attending a kick-off assembly on the morning of Monday, November 6th and coming home with a cool lanyard and all sorts of information. Please be sure to thoroughly read the QSP package for details. We are looking forward to an exciting 7-school-day campaign! This is our CSPC’s biggest fundraiser (we earn 40% profit from almost every sale!) and a very fun time for the kids (with lots of prizes and daily rewards!), and we are asking for your support! Please note that in addition to magazines, QSP also offers e-books and hundreds of gift items – with all profits going to our school of course! Online orders can be placed anytime at The final deadline for all orders (in order to count towards the prizes) is Wednesday, November 15th.

Our Fall International Walk to School day took place on October 4th, with over 78% of students participating this time around.  It is a great event that reminds our children to make healthy lifestyle choices.  Congratulations to Mr. Sloan's and Mr. Arduini’s classes for having the highest percentage of walkers!  Those classes will enjoy a pizza party courtesy of CSPC.  Thank you to our volunteers for helping with this event!

For those who are participating, don’t forget that this month’s Pizza Lunches are being held on Friday, November 10th and Friday, November 24th. This month’s Subway Lunch will take place on Thursday, November 16th.

Thanks so much to those who participated in our first annual FundScrip fundraiser!  It was a success with 107 orders placed and we raised just over $2000.  The gift cards should arrive within the next couple of weeks and we will send an email with several pick up dates.  If the cards are not picked up, we will automatically send them home with your child.  Congratulations to Ms. Causi's and Ms. Ferreira’s classes for having the most number of orders placed.  They will be rewarded with an extra recess.

As you may have seen, construction has now started on our upcoming building addition! We celebrated this at our sod-turning ceremony on Friday, October 27th. CSPC has worked very hard on this initiative and would like to thank all of the parents who helped in the fight along the way. Please be reminded that during this period of construction, the school parking lot is completely closed. No parents (including PLASP parents) are permitted to park there at any time. This is a huge safety issue and we thank everyone in advance for following the rules and allowing this project to move forward as fast as it possibly can.

Keep an eye out: There will be information coming home soon about the Christmas fundraisers that are coming up in December!

Our next CSPC meeting is being held on Tuesday, November 21st . We hope to see many of you there!

Sincerely……………Your CSPC Team
