Plain white or navy blue tops include:
Short and long-sleeved shirts with appropriate collar (golf shirts, dress shirts, blouses) or turtle necks.
Tops with sleeves.
Tops with collars, no T-shirts (for the exception – see *Athletic Wear).
Details need to be consistent with colour of the top (lace, logos, colour etc.).
Plain navy blue bottoms or dresses/tunics include:
Walking shorts, skirts, skorts, kilt, dresses with collars, tunic dresses, capri/cargo pants, dress/casual pants
Shorts, skirts or skorts to be mid-thigh or longer.
Skorts are skirts with shorts sewn inside.
Cargo pants are ¾ length pants or full length pants that the bottoms can be zipped off to make them into shorts.
Skirts and tunic dresses need to be modest, knee or slightly above knee in length.
Wearing shorts underneath skirts and dresses is recommended but not mandatory.
Tunic dresses are InSchoolwear blue plaid or solid plain navy blue and worn with plain white or navy blue collared tops underneath.
Kilt form InSchoolwear.

Grey crested InSchoolwear Athletic shirt or Spirit Wear shirt (SDCS grey & green) only
Plain navy blue athletic shorts

Girl’s tights/leggings to be plain white or plain navy.
Socks that can be seen, to be solid white or solid navy.
Shoes should be suitable for recess, gym and physical activity –running shoes are recommended, secure sandals when weather appropriate.
Belts are optional. Belts can be plain black or navy blue to be worn for the purpose of securing clothing.
Indoor over-garments are to be plain navy blue, white or InSchoolwear grey.
What is not included or What not to wear
No denim/jeans, vinyl material like wind pants (outdoor wear).
No plain white or plain navy blue T-shirts. (See Athletic Wear.)
No leggings or jeggings as pants.
No clothing with visible labels, logos of any size, contrasting colours, coloured buttons or stitching, stripes or detailing.
No hats and sunglasses (outdoor wear) in the building.
No flip-flops and slip on sandals without straps.
No mini-skirts, halter-tops, tank tops, muscle shirts, t-shirts with vulgar sayings.
No clothing with tears/holes.
No oversized clothing (shirts to the knee, pants handing low and off the waist).
Other Details
Athletic wear is optional and only to be worn on scheduled physical education days, specific sport practices and
sporting events.
Hair accessories should be subtle and align with dress code.
Students may be asked to wear Grey crested InSchoolwear Athletic shirts or Spirit Wear (SDCS grey & green) shirts to school sanctioned events (Cross Country, Swim Meet, Track & Field, etc.).
There is no dress code requirement for outerwear including jackets, snow pants, hats and gloves.
St. Denis Crested clothing is available through InSchoolwear Inc.
St. Denis Catholic School ‘iron-on crests’ are available to purchase at the school office. Crest placement on store bought clothing items should comply with InSchoolwear purchased items (For tops - on the upper left portion of the shirt or sweater. For athletic pants or shorts - on the left thigh).
All Grey colour (optional 3rd colour) clothing must be purchased from InSchoolwear Inc.

Dress Down Days
During the year, dress down days or non-dress code days will be planned. Students can wear “regular clothes” but attire must be appropriate and modest, keeping with our Catholic values and general dress code. Students have the option of a dress down day on their birthday. If a birthday falls on a weekend or holiday, students have the option of dressing down on the Friday before
Dress Code in TCDSB Schools
All Elementary schools within the jurisdiction of the Board shall adopt an Appropriate Dress Code or Uniform Dress Code.
All Secondary schools within the jurisdiction of the Board shall adopt a Uniform Dress Code.
Parents are encouraged to review the local dress code at their child’s school and to direct their questions to the principal of the school.
