DIRECTOR OF EDUCATION READS TO STUDENTS AT ST. DENIS:
REAL MEN READ WEEK
 Real Men Read - Gr 4 class.JPGReal Men Read - Gr. 4 boys.JPG
The TCDSB Director of Education, Bruce Rodrigues, read to students Monday afternoon, June 11th in support of St. Denis’ “Real men Read Week”.

To support reading among the school’s young male students, St. Denis Catholic School has invited men from all walks of life to come into the school and read to the students this week. Grandfathers, uncles, fathers will read their favourite stories in an effort to encourage the boys to read.

The school is hosting the week-long program in response to research that supports a concern that boys are more disengaged in literacy.  It is the staff’s hope that, by inviting positive male role models who love to read, the male students will be quicker to pick up a book.

A boy will follow the lead of his male role model, usually his father or other significant man in his life. If that man values reading, the boy will too"
