Students Learn about Christmas in the 1800s

On Wednesday, December 18, 2019, Ms. Beverly's Grade 1/2 Class and Mr. Calderon's Grade 7/8 Class went on a trip to the Scarborough Museum.  At the museum, they learned about life during the Victorian era (i.e. the 1800s), and more specifically, how Christmas used to be celebrated.  They took a tour of a home from that time period, made homemade Christmas decorations using materials such as branches and dried apples, baked muffins using an old recipe, and handled toys children used to play with.  The students enjoyed their time comparing their Christmas traditions with those from the 1800s.
