Dear Parents/Guardians,

This note is to inform you that site improvements for both Stella Maris Catholic School and Hudson College are underway.  In order to complete our long-awaited school yard project safely and efficiently, some changes to our usual routines are needed.

At this time, the school yard is fenced off and the contractors will begin removing the present asphalt in preparation for the new asphalt and Astro turf soccer field.

Over the coming months, the students will have recesses and outdoor lunch time in the West yard and/or gym.  Our lunch hour has been staggered to allow all students to have an opportunity to play in the yard safely.  The students whose classes are on the first floor eat their lunch from 11:15 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. and then go out to play.  The students whose classes are on the second floor go outdoors from 11:15 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. and then come in to eat their lunch.

School dismissal is taking place in the West yard for the SK/Gr. 1, ELP1, ELP2, Gr. 1/ 2 and Gr. 2/3 classes.  All other classes, Gr. 3 to Gr. 8, are being dismissed in an orderly manner at the front entrance of the building.

Parents and caregivers are asked not to enter the school building after 2:45 p.m. in order to minimize congestion in the front hall.  If it rains, please come for 3 p.m. and bring an umbrella.

A special thank you is extended to the many parents, guardians, caregivers and staff for their support as we worked together to develop these new routines to ensure the health and safety of all our students, staff and families.

If there is further information to share, I will send home an update.  Please feel free to contact me should you have any questions or concerns: 416-393-5371.

Regards,

E. Arciero
