Light the Night Walk

Dearest friends,

As you may know we have a team that participates in the annual Light the Night Walk. This year the pandemic has prevented us from walking together, but it will not prevent us from Taking Back the Light that COVID and Cancer have tried to take away.

Our team is known as Justin's Jedi. Justin was diagnosed with Burkitts Lymphoma on April 1st, 2014, 6 years ago!

Immediately following diagnosis Justin had an operation to remove a tumor in his intestines and began a grueling 9 month chemo treatment. September 28th, 2014 would be the last time Justin received Chemo and checked out of Sick Kids as an inpatient. His last official day of treatment and the beginning of this little guys amazing road to recovery was on October 25th, 2014.

We want to celebrate 6 years of being Cancer FREE! What better way of honoring this boy's road to recovery than by raising funds so other children won't have to suffer the same harsh treatments that Justin did.

In the past 6 years our little guy has become an amazing young man and never let this disease define him. He has used his experience as a motivation to push for more. As his Father, I can tell you it is a real joy to watch him grow up. He is really a special boy.

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada helps fund many different research initiatives to help find better treatments and ultimately a cure for blood cancers. I have seen and been part of some of the amazing work that they are doing. This is WHY WE WALK!

Our team in the last 6 years has raised over $45,000.00 and that is a great accomplishment, but we need keep it going and not stop there. This year my goal for our team is to raise $10,000.00, I know it's aggressive but this is the path to ultimately beating this horrible disease.

As you know, helping the blood cancer community is near and dear to my heart. In this time of uncertainty, Canadians affected by blood cancers face even more challenges. They need our support now more than ever. COVID-19, like cancer, can take so much away from us, but on October 24th, 2020 I am taking back the light in The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada’s Light The Night Virtual Event.

Light The Night celebrates cancer survivors, honors those we’ve lost and gives hope to those facing a blood cancer. The money raised helps fund research and critical programs and services that help support Canadians at every step of their blood cancer experience.

I need your help to make a difference. Please consider donating what you can to my page.  Your support means everything to me and to those affected by blood cancers.

You can learn more about Light The Night and its impact in the community. If you would like, you can also join our team.

Thank you!
