At St. Ignatius of Loyola Elementary School our goal is the pursuit of academic success and instilling a love of learning in our young people.  We accomplish our goal by ensuring subjects are taught in a fun and motivating way where students can best express their ideas and abilities in a unique and fair manner.
Each year many new concepts and skills will be presented, taught, practiced and developed in alignment with the Ontario Curriculum.  It is important that students consistently complete their assignments and learn the material, skills and concepts presented.  To help foster and support your child, a regular daily study or review time at home is important and beneficial for all children.
Students are expected to work to the best of their ability and to display a sense of pride in their efforts and accomplishments by presenting neat work, completing daily assignments and preparing for major projects.  Homework may include the following:
·   work assignments by the teacher to be completed for the next day
·   completion of classroom assignments or review of daily lessons
·   project work
·   studying for quizzes and/or tests
·   independent reading.

“Parents need to hold high aspirations and expectations for their children, and schools need to work in partnership with parents so that home and school can share in these expectations and support learning”

-          Hattie (2009) p. 70
