Toronto Catholic District School Board

St. Jane Frances

French Immersion Consultation

October 25, 2017
Dear Parents and Staff of St. Jane Frances Catholic School:
As part of the Toronto Catholic District School Board’s ongoing responsibility to offer dynamic educational opportunities across the City of Toronto, it created a draft Long Term Program Plan (LTPP). Aspects of the plan include opportunities for enhanced programming including French Immersion Programs.
The LTPP is a living document that is reviewed regularly by the Board.  To contribute to the flexibility that is built into the plan, community consultation takes place prior to change of programming that is suggested by the plan.  St. Jane Frances Catholic School is one of the schools where the addition of French Immersion Programming is being considered for September 2018.  The model to be discussed includes the gradual implementation of French Immersion beginning in kindergarten in addition to continuing English programming in all grades for families who do not wish to participate in French Immersion.
An evening of consultation regarding French Immersion programming will take place on Monday, November 13, 2017 at 7:00 pm, at St. Jane Frances Catholic School. At the meeting, participants will have the opportunity to learn more about French Immersion programming, participate in discussion and complete a survey.  Your input and feedback is very important to us and essential to informing the Board’s program plans for the school.
The meeting will be attended by members of the St. Frances de Sales Catholic School community, invited members of the greater community, staff from the TCDSB French Department, Trustee Patrizia Bottoni, an administrator from another school that has recently implemented FI, and other senior staff.
As we approach the evening of consultation, please check in with the Board’s website for further updates -
We thank you in advance for your participation and input and we look forward to meeting you in November.
