Parent Participation in CSPC

At the first meeting in September, the parents in attendance are asked to elect the council for the current year. In addition, other parents are listed as "members at large".

The CSPC advises the principal on school matters, and each parent has an equal vote on matters that require a vote. The principal does not have a vote. CSPC has a separate budget and can advise the principal on ways to best utilize these funds, primarily to enhance parent engagement and student achievement.

Parents are strongly recommended to participate in the educational life of their children. Attendance at CSPC-sponsored events are a good way to do this.

The following are typical opportunities for parent involvement:

  • Attendance At Regular CSPC meetings
  • Attendance at Special Pot Luck Themed evenings such as Teen Mental Health
  • Acting as CSPC Representative at other school events such as Grade 8 Open House, Grade 9 Curriculum Night, Awards Ceremony, Graduation, school masses and others.
  • Participating in Parent-Teacher Interviews
