Principal's Message

Dear Parents/ Guardians,

Welcome to the 2017-2018 school year!  We were blessed with a warm and pleasant summer.  We hope you had time to enjoy the outdoors, relax and spend time with family and friends.  It is bittersweet to see the summer come to an end, but we are eager to reconnect with our friends and staff members once again.

We would like to extend a special welcome to our new families joining the St. John community.  We look forward to working with you and helping you become acquainted with our many wonderful traditions. To our returning families, welcome back to a new school year that promises to be filled with new initiatives and new opportunities. A special welcome to our new little superheroes who will be a part of the new Early Learning Program for the official launch of Full Day Kindergarten at St. John.  Over the course of the year, we will focus on three main priorities to ensure a welcoming and safe learning environment.  Our priority is to nurture our community, to improve student achievement and to build capacity to lead and learn.  At St. John, we come together as a community to collectively share our talents with our students in a faith filled environment.

We believe strongly in the partnership between home, school and Church. So please, if you would like to discuss your child or a concern that you have, call the office to make an appointment or to speak to one of the administrators by phone.  The needs of all our students are our top priority. We want all our students to thrive in a supportive community. We will do our best to meet individual needs while still keeping in mind the needs of the larger community. While we may not always provide you with the decision you prefer, we will continue to provide a child-centered, faith-based education and provide an opportunity for your voice to be heard.

Attached please find a cue card for the children to write or draw on their highlights of the summer of 2017. We will call a class down to post their cue cards on the bulletin board during the first few days of school.  They may also bring in a picture to share their favourite memories of this past summer.
