The Newman Mission
We, at St John Henry Newman Catholic High School, are committed to making a difference in the lives of our students. We are a community that celebrates the unique gifts of every student. Grade 9 Courses
Compulsory Subjects
English (or) English as a Second Language; Geography; Mathematics; Religion; Science; French.

Elective Subjects
Comprehensive Arts (Music, Art & Drama); Physical Education; Information & Communication Technology in Business; Exploring Technology; Food & Nutrition

Advanced Placement (AP) Courses
At St John Henry Newman our academic program offers a challenging curriculum which includes enriched credit courses beginning in Grade 9. These Pre-AP courses are offered in Mathematics, Science, English & Geography. The program leads to the Advanced Placement courses in senior years. Pre-Ap Applications are available at our Open House or from your grade 8 teacher.  Applications are due the first week of December to St John Henry Newman.

French Immersion

Extended French
Blessed Cardinal Newman offers an Extended French programme where students take 7 full credits entirely in French. Students are encouraged to participate in various French Exchanges & Summer Work programmes to further practice the language.

Gr. 8 Summer School Transition Program

A Gr. 8 summer school transition program will be offered in July 2020 for incoming students to St John Henry Newman. This program will ensure that incoming students are challenged and engaged in learning to help them prepare for their transition into high school.

The program includes: Community Building - make new friends and meet Newman teachers; Orientation - learn more about the school, programs & facilities; Learning - improve the literacy and numeracy skills required for Gr. 9; Health - daily physical activity; and, Earn a Credit.
