Office of the Director of Education

May 28, 2018
Dear Parents/Guardians, Catholic SchoolAdvisory Councils, Principals and Staff of Josyf Cardinal Slipyj and St. Josaphat Catholic Schools:
We thank everyone who participated in the Boundary Review process, and we would like to take this opportunity to inform you of the decision to adjust the boundaries of the above mentioned schools.
The Boundary Review Committee achieved consensus agreement on the new boundaries for Josyf Cardinal Slipyj and St. Josaphat Catholic Schools. There was a public meeting held at St. Josaphat on May 23, 2018 to provide key information to the affected school communities and to address outstanding concerns.
The committees for both school communities unanimously agreed on a boundary realignment that will achieve the goal for this review which was to increase enrolment at St. Josaphat and to reduce the bussing needs for the two schools overtime.
The new boundary configuration is effective for the 2019-2020 school year. New boundaries will be in place prior to the start of Registration in January 2019. All new registrations will be subject to the new boundaries per the timelines above and as they appear in the map attachment to this letter. Students currently enrolled in these schools along with their siblings will not be affected by the boundary changes. They will be allowed to continue in their current school until graduation.
We would like to take this opportunity to encourage any parents of young children currently residing in the area affected by this boundary change to contact the schools should they wish to transfer to St. Josaphat ahead of the official boundary change although they are not required to do so.

The boundary review has taken place in accordance with the Toronto Catholic District School Board’s Elementary School Attendance Boundary Review Policy (S.A. 03), which can be viewed on the Board’s website at:
