Co-operative Education
Co-operative education is
a credit program that combines classroom theory with practical experience in
the workplace. The program is based on a
partnership between the school and business/industry and involves the participation
of students, teachers, and co-op placement employers and supervisors.
The Co-operative Education
Program can help students make decisions about their future educational and
career goals, gain new skills and develop positive attitudes about
themselves. As a result, the students
are in a better position to make effective and realistic decisions about their
future.
The unique location of St.
Joseph’s College allows students to have a wealth and variety of opportunities
for co-op placements.
Students can choose to
take a two-credit, three-credit or four-credit co-op program, or an Ontario
Youth Apprenticeship Program.
Students who are
interested in participating in the Co-operative Education Program must fill in
an application form which is available in the Student Services office. Students will be interviewed and will have
the opportunity to discuss their goals for their career exploration.
For more information about
the program, please contact the school (416) 393-5514 and speak to one of our
co-op teachers: Ms. Keenan or Ms. Carpe.
