St. Joseph's College School celebrated its 3rd annual Aboriginal Day on Thursday, November 19th. This day celebrated the rich and diverse culture of Canada's Indigenous peoples. This year's assembly showcased the Metis culture of Canada.
A morning assembly featuring the Metis Fiddler Quartet, staff and students, highlighted the beauty of Metis music and dance with the school community. Staff and students observed artwork created by the Native Art class, learned more about Metis language and symbols and participated in an interactive presentation on fiddling and jigging.
The Native Studies Department at St. Joseph's College School is proud to celebrate Aboriginal Day each year. This day helps foster acceptance and provides staff and students with a better understanding for the cultural diversity of our city.
