Toronto Catholic District School Board

TCDSB STUDENTS FROM 32 SCHOOLS GATHER FOR
CATHOLIC SCHOOLS UNITED NATIONS ASSEMBLY

Over 500 Toronto Catholic District School Board high school students from 32 secondary schools will gather at the Board’s head office for the Catholic Schools United Nations Assembly (CSUNA) this year. The event is being organized and hosted by the students at St. Joseph’s Morrow Park Catholic Secondary School. CSUNA allows students the opportunity to develop a better sense of the global community they live in and to discuss worldwide crises and situations. This year, students will debate and discuss world issues under the theme: Standing in Solidarity: Achieving Peace through International Co-Operation.

The opening ceremonies take place at the Catholic Education Centre, 80 Sheppard Avenue East.

CSUNA is a simulation of the United Nations that introduces students into the work of diplomacy and negotiation.  Students from across the Toronto Catholic District School Board debate and discuss world issues as delegates of specific countries by following the rules and procedures of the UN.  The 500 students have been divided into groups: 420 students will represent Delegates, 30 students will be in the role of Security Team, 30 students in the role of Pages and 20 students as Secretariats.
