On behalf of St. Kateri Tekakwitha Catholic School staff, students and school community, I would like to welcome you all to our school. A special welcome to new families in the school community.
As principal of St. Kateri Tekakwitha Catholic School I am honoured and excited to be working at such a thriving school with a long tradition and history. My belief is that,
"It takes a whole village to raise a child’,
hence the reason for the strong triadic relationship between school, Church and parent community. Our approach in everyday life and teaching is very Christ-centred.
St. Kateri Tekakwitha Catholic School has a vibrant academic tradition where developing literacy and numeracy skills in our students have been a major focus. However we at St. Kateri Tekakwitha also believe in developing the ‘whole child’. Our school offers many diverse programs, activities and opportunities in the arts, sports, clubs, etc., where our students can explore and further develop their individual talents.
As Pope Francis states:
"Dear Young People,
Do not bury your talents, the gifts that GOD has given you! Do not be afraid to dream of GREAT things!"
Our parents are the first educators in their child’s life. Studies show that students will do well in school when their parents have been actively involved in their school life. There are many ways for parents to participate in their child’s school life such as: volunteer to supervise on a school excursion; offer your gifts talents to the school; and lastly attend our Catholic School Parent Council meetings (usually held once a month).
St. Kateri Tekakwitha has a very close relationship with our school parish Epiphany of Our Lord Parish. The parish team assists our staff and students giving them the spiritual guidance.
Let's work together to help our children achieve their dreams!
I wish everyone a wonderful school year together!
