Boundary Review Update

Office of the Director of Education

June 28, 2018
Dear Parents/Guardians, Catholic School Advisory Councils, Principals and Staff of St. Mary and Bishop Macdonell Schools:
We thank everyone who participated in the Boundary Review process, and we would like to
take this opportunity to inform you of the decision to create a boundary for Bishop Macdonell through the adjustment of the St. Mary fixed attendance boundary.
The Boundary Review Committee achieved consensus agreement on the new boundaries for St. Mary and Bishop Macdonell Schools. There was a public meeting held at St. Mary on June 19, 2018 to provide key information to the affected school communities and to address outstanding concerns.
The committee for the school communities unanimously agreed on a boundary realignment that will achieve the goal for this review which was to create a fixed attendance boundary for Bishop Macdonell while balancing the future enrolment of St. Mary.
The new boundary configuration is effective for the 2019-2020 school year. New boundaries
will be in place prior to the start of Registration in January 2019. All new registrations will be
subject to the new boundaries per the timelines above and as they appear in the map attachment to this letter. Students currently enrolled in St. Mary along with their siblings will not be affected by the boundary changes. They will be allowed to continue in their current school until graduation.
The boundary review has taken place in accordance with the Toronto Catholic District School Board’s Elementary School Attendance Boundary Review Policy (S.A. 03), which can be viewed on the Board’s website at:
