SMCA Rebel Girls at the 2020 Women for Women's Gala

On March 3rd 2020, a group of SMCA Rebel Girls were invited to celebrate and be a part of the Women’s College Hospital Foundation annual “Women for Women’s” Gala at the Sheraton Hotel.  These 4 students had volunteered with the WCHF on a video created to promote women and diversity in health and sciences. The video was showcased at the gala along with launching the Emily Stowe Society scholarship/bursary program.“The Emily Stowe Society builds on the legacy of the founder of WCH, Dr. Emily Stowe, who opened doors to careers in medicine and the health sciences for generations of women.”
The SMCA students were recognized on stage for the contributions they and the rest of the Rebel Girls have made over this past school year in promoting and empowering young voices for change and equality.  It was a celebration bringing awareness and acknowledging International Women’s Day, that an equal world is an enabled world. #EachforEqual #IWD2020
"The Rebel Girls specifically resonates with us – we are so moved by the incredibly inspiring group of young leaders who are ready to shake up the system! The aim of the Emily Stowe Society is to help ensure we continue to focus on creating inclusive and representative spaces in classrooms and workplaces – and helping to break down barriers to success, especially for those who have been underrepresented. These are the kinds of barriers and challenges we really want to highlight."
