Toronto Catholic District School Board

School History And Tradition

Our school is named for St. Michael who was the leader of the celestial armies and the guardian of the souls of men. St. Michael's special day is September 29th. It is called the feast of St. Michael and all Angels in honour of all the angels who helped St. Michael in the battle against evil.St. Michaels Playground
St. Michael Catholic School is a model school built in conjunction with the public school board in an apartment building that is part of the St. Lawrence Development. This concept of a mixed economic community was brought to life following the mayoralty of David Crombie, elected in 1970, who was determined to bring housing back into downtown Toronto.

The school aims to serve the local community. The first 15 children were admitted in 1979 and were bussed daily to another neighbouring Catholic school. The school building we now occupy was officially opened on June 9, 1982 with 103 children.
