Toronto Catholic District School Board

Admissions Overview
The admission process at St. Michael’s Choir School is highly selective: of the hundreds who audition, only 32 boys will be offered a place in the training years (Grades 3 and 4) each year. Depending on openings, there are often possibilities for boys to enter in higher grades and even in high school, but in those circumstances, new applicants must demonstrate a level of skill and achievement that equals the experience of Choir School training.

Established in 1937, St. Michael’s Choir School continues a long and proud tradition of educating the young men who provide the music for St. Michael’s Cathedral. The model of service to the Cathedral and to the Catholic community is at the heart of its mission. Through its high academic and artistic standards, the Choir School provides a challenging and rigorous preparation for young men to go forth to be leaders in a changing world. The academic programme offers a complete curriculum for Grades 3 through 12, including extended French and athletics. Because enrollment is limited to 260 boys, the learning environment is characterized by small classes, individual attention and a strong sense of community responsibility. Admission is based on successful completion of a musical audition, entrance examination and interviews.
