On Thursday, October 4, 2012, Mr. Wright and Mr. Kwon took an energetic group of fresh faced student leaders to the CEC to experience their first ECSLIT student leadership meeting under the direction of Mike Consul. Students from St. Paschal Baylon's student leadership team were truly inspired by hip-hop artists, Matthew Jones and Tanika Riley of P.E.A.C.E.  (People Everywhere Actually Co-Existing Equally) and their message of the power of change, respect and love.  Students have been also diligently participating in the on-line Minga meetings every alternate Thursday of the month.

Students further practiced their group problem solving skills in creating a freestanding tower made out of paper and straws as well as planning for the next leadership activity of building a wooden catapult, capable of launching a ping pong ball at the next ECSLIT meeting held this past Thursday, November 8th at the CEC. Dave Conlon from CASAA (Canadian Association of Student Activity Advisors) showed student leaders the importance of team work and planning and what skills can be developed and the self-confidence needed to succeed as leaders in the 21st century.

St. Paschal Baylon students beam with pride as they complete their next challenge for the ECSLIT meeting on Thursday, March 7th at the CEC.
The Challenge:
Use tubes of newspaper to make a table that’s at least eight inches tall and strong enough to hold a heavy book.
In this challenge:
(1) follow the design process to build a sturdy table out of paper tubes
(2) make paper support more weight by changing its shape
(3) figure out ways to keep the table legs from buckling.
