Dress Purple Day

On October 24th, TCDSB celebrated Dress Purple Day -- a day to raise awareness among students and staff about the signs of abuse and neglect, and what to do if they or someone they know is being/or suspected of being abused or neglected.  Communities across Ontario participated in the day to break the silence and show their commitment to children’s rights to safety and well-being. On Dress Purple Day we acknowledge that it takes a village to keep kids safe. Everybody in the community plays a role in supporting children’s rights.

Sts. Cosmas and Damian welcomed members from the Toronto Police Services for a special presentation on October 24th. TCDSB Chief Social Worker, John Wilhelm was also on hand to talk about the importance of speaking up against abuse and neglect.

Following the presentation, staff, students and guests proceeded outdoors for a group photo in the shape of a ribbon, demonstrating their commitment to children’s safety and well-being. The community is grateful to Mr. Del Giudice and Mr. Montanari for putting together a great Dress Purple Day.
