IMG_20131129_163508.jpgTORONTO, ON. Staff and students at Sts Cosmas and Damian welcomed PACHI, the official mascot for the Pan Am and Parapan Am Games, to learn about the Games and the importance sport plays in fostering respect, confidence, the value of teamwork, and the pursuit of excellence. The special visit was part of the school community’s celebration of National Jersey Day and RBC Sports Day in Canada; a time to celebrate the power of sport, build community and national spirit and facilitate healthy, active living.
PACHI is a porcupine that has 41 quills – one for each of the Pan American countries participating in the Games. His quills are five different colours, which represent qualities that he holds – green is youth, fuchsia is passion, blue is collaboration, orange is determination, and purple is creativity. These are all attributes we strive to foster in our youth at Sts Cosmas and Damian Catholic School.
