United States Education Delegates Visit Sts. Cosmas & Damian

Sts. Cosmas and Damian hosted a delegation from the United States conducting an international study on successful teaching practices.  The delegation visited schools in Ontario to study principal and teacher practices that have led to our student’s tremendous success on international standards of education.  Sts. Cosmas and Damian was chosen as the only Catholic elementary school to be included in the study.

Battelle for Kids is a not-for-profit organization that provides strategic counsel and innovative solutions for educational- improvement challenges.  The organization partners with American state departments of education and school districts to improve teaching and learning for children

The delegation was able to visit three primary classes, including special education classes and two junior classes at Sts. Cosmas and Damian Catholic Elementary School.  They were also able to interview the principal and teachers on topics including assessment of and for learning, collaborative inquiry and differentiated instruction.

As part of their study, Battelle for kids were able to visit a class at Dante Alighieri Catholic Secondary School and met with the Catholic Principal’s Council of Ontario president, Jim Minello.
