St. Stephen receives $10K in Classroom Technology
St. Stephen Catholic School was selected to receive a $10,000 POWER UP technology grant from Softchoice and Lenovo. The school was 1 of 7 schools from across Canada and the United States that were awarded a total of $70,000 in POWER UP grants. The Grant supports the integration of a technology initiative that enhances educational opportunities for students.
Representatives from Softchoice and Lenovo unveiled 28 brand new laptops during their surprise announcement to the students on Thursday, February 16th. Following the announcement, students had an opportunity to test out the new laptops through a hackathon guided by Softchoice and Lenovo employees.
The inaugural POWER UP technology grant was open to publicly-funded schools serving students from Junior Kindergarten to grade 8 in seven U.S. and Canadian jurisdictions. Grant recipients were selected based on their thoughtful applications, which described a compelling need for technology and articulated a strong implementation plan to drive positive learning outcomes.
The St. Stephen community is grateful to Softchoice and Lenovo for their generosity, and extend a special thank you to Troy Beharry in the TCDSB Partnership Development Office for his assistance in pursuing this grant opportunity.
