Welcome to the 2020-2021 school year at St. Thomas More Catholic School. Three years ago we celebrated our 50th anniversary and we are looking to continue to provide a vibrant and interactive learning experince in this wonderful community. It is a difficult time for us all right now. At St. Thomas More, we will be concentrating on creating a safe and welcoming environment for our students. In this spirit, I offer you a warm “welcome back” to all of our familiar faces and a very special welcome to families new to our school. I hope the time you spent away from school was filled with lots of wonderful activities and you are rested and raring to go!  We are a school with a difference, leading and learning from a perspective firmly rooted in Faith. As we journey together through this year, it is my wish that we will use those unique gifts that God has given each of us to make the year an enjoyable and productive one.
As we begin the new school year, the TCDSB continues to journey through our new three-year pastoral plan – Rooted in Christ: we Belong, we Believe, we Become. This year, we embrace and celebrate BelievingWe acknowledge that our belonging to God also shapes our perspectives on what we do and how we do it. As a community of believers, we celebrate Christ who is always present our differences, reconcile conflicts and move on to a better future for all.  Our common belief brings us together as one family. Catholic schools are built on the relationships between our families, our parishes, our staff and our students. We celebrated these communities in our previous pastoral plan, and will continue to nurture their close ties in this new pastoral plan.

At St. Thomas More we maintain a commitment to equity and inclusion as ever-present goals, critical responsibilities and moral imperatives. Our School Board's three-year Equity Action Plan is a renewal of our promise to ensure equity at all levels of our system as we strive to close the achievement gap, enhance student physical, mental, and spiritual well-being, and ensure equity of opportunity and outcomes for all.

Our students are encouraged to work diligently to achieve their best, and to participate fully in the many co-curricular activities and leadership activities that take place at St. Thomas More. Our staff is ready to nurture, guide and educate our students in a positive and caring manner. At St. Thomas More, our overiding rule is: “Keep your hands, feet and negative comments to yourself” and we work hard to ensure each child is treated with respect and tolerance within the context of a nurturing environment.

I look forward to meeting as many of you as I can this year and I am certain we can work together to produce the best possible community based educational expereince for your child(ren).
