For the 13th year, Toronto Catholic District School Board acknowledged innovative projects and programs at TCDSB schools with the Exemplary Practice Awards, which took place on April 23rd. Among this year’s award winners was St. Ursula Catholic School for “Youth Choir”.
The St. Cecilia Youth Choir, under the direction of their talented vocal Music teacher, Mrs. Murphy, collaborated with the La Jeunesse Youth Orchestra to create an outstanding musical ensemble. The choir is comprised of more than 70 elementary students from three Catholic schools in the Scarborough area, Cardinal Leger, St. Martin de Porres and St. Ursula. The St. Cecilia Youth Choir combines students from these three schools who are dedicated to the performance of music. This musical assemblage provides opportunities for its student members to develop their musicality, learn to harmonize as a choir and collaborate with an orchestra.
