Dear Parents / Guardians:

Your child has expressed an interest in joining the Cross-Country Running Team (grades three through eight).  Cross-Country is a very demanding sport, which requires both commitment and dedication. The practice schedule is as follows:

Monday and Wednesday during lunch from 11:45 a.m. – 12:20 p.m. at Sorauren Park

Thursdays after school from 3:40 – 4:30 p.m. – High Park Run

There may be one additional practice scheduled at lunch- Tuesday or Friday.

Practices begin on Monday September 21 and continue through October.

It is important that you are aware that conditioning is first and foremost. The training period is approximately three and a half weeks. Those participants who are not able to make team practices and train appropriately with the team will not be permitted to attend the competition. Students are asked to practice on their own time as well.

A Medical Information Form (attached) must also be completed by all participants. When training, students should carry any puffers and epi-pens if they are required. Please indicate on the form that such medication will be with your child. Cross-country running takes place outside, thus appropriate clothing is very important. Please ensure that your child is dressed for the weather conditions they may encounter. Loose, layered clothing with some wind protection is best. For the competition, students are required to wear the school SVDP T-Shirt. You may purchase a T-Shirt for $15.

The Divisional Meet will be on Wednesday, October 14 at The Beaches-Boardwalk. Your child may progress to the Regional Meet on Wednesday, October 21 also at The Beaches-Boardwalk, depending upon his or her results. The City Finals will be on Tuesday, October 27 at Earl Bales Park.

Thank you,
The St. Vincent de Paul Coaching Staff,
S. Couto, S. Follett, C., and C. McInerney,

PLEASE RETURN THIS BOTTOM PORTION ONLY BY FRIDAY SEPTEMBER 12.

I give permission for my child ___________________________________ in grade _________to take part
in all aspects of the Cross-Country running practices.
