Toronto Catholic District School Board

St. Wilfrid Receives $10k Technology Grant

St. Wilfrid Catholic School is the recipient of a Power Up technology grant from Softchoice, Lenovo and VMware. The $10,000 classroom technology grant supports the integration of a technology initiative that enhances educational opportunities for students.

Representatives from Softchoice, Lenovo and VMware unveiled 26 brand new laptops during their surprise announcement to the students on Wednesday, February 7th. Superintendents Lori DiMarco (Curriculum, Leadership and Innovation; ICT) and Michael Caccamo (Area 3) were on hand to celebrate with the community. Following the announcement, students had an opportunity to test out their new laptops through a hackathon guided by Softchoice, Lenovo and VMware employees.

On December 4, 2017, Softchoice awarded classroom technology grants of $10,000 each to 10 publicly-funded schools serving students from low-income communities in Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Denver, Los Angeles, Montreal, Seattle and Toronto. Grant recipients were selected based on their thoughtful applications, which described a compelling need for technology and articulated a strong implementation plan to drive positive learning outcomes.
