  • Michelle Skalnicka from Don Bosco Secondary School, John Paul Lopez of Chaminade College School, Nicole Grgic from Michael Power/St. Joseph Secondary School, and Mauricio Curbelo of Bishop Allen Academy who were awarded the Angel Foundation's Tom Leon Bursary.--Details
  • Superintendent of Student Success Loretta Notten for being selected to receive the 2009 Spirit of Ontario Award in the field of education from the National Congress of Italian Canadians.--Details 
  • Chantelle Henriques and Wilson Carreiro, from St. Sebastian, for their achievements in the essay contest sponsored by the Federation of Portuguese Canadian Businesses and Professionals.--Details
  • Khrystyna Platko and Andrew Ansell, students from Father John Redmond Catholic Secondary School, recipients of a Merit Award Bursary for the 2009-2010 school year.--Details
  • Lise Ngo, a grade 12 student at Blessed Mother Teresa CSS won first place in the French non-fiction category for the OECTA sponsored Young Authors Awards/prix jeunes ecrivans. As well as a cash award and certificate, Lise receives a copy of the commemorative book containing all the provincial winning entries.  The Blessed Mother Teresa student was the only Toronto winner in the French language category.
  • Senator O'Connor Senior Boys soccer team captured the bronze medal at the "AAA" OFSAA championship in Windsor.
  • Emmanuel Cordeiro from Dante Alighieri Academy for winning the gold medal at the Skills Ontario Cabinet Making.  He went on to represent TCDSB at the Skills Canada National Competition in Prince Edward Island, and returned with a bronze medal.--Details
  • Winners at this year's TEAMS Math Olympics--Details
  • TCDSB winners of 2009 Canadian Mathematics Competitions from Brebeuf, Chaminade, Francis Libermann and St. Joseph's Morrow Park--Details
  • Two Bishop Allen students have been recognized for their good citizenship, fresh ideas and academic excellence, with a 2009 Canada Millennium Scholarship. The awards acknowledge excellence in leadership, innovation, academic performance and community service.
    Congratulations to Joseph Mcgrade, recipient of one of two national scholarships of $25,000; and to Jennifer Wright, who received a local scholarship of $4,500.
  • Recipients of the Toronto Star High School Newspaper Awards.  Karizza Sanchez (Mary Ward Catholic Secondary School) captured the Award for Critical Writing.  Planet (Mary Ward Catholic Secondary School) won in the best volunteer newspaper category, while Off the Wall (Pope John Paul II Catholic Secondary School), was the runner-up.

  • Father Henry Carr Students who who captured 5 medals--3 gold, 1 silver and 1 bronze--on day one of the Metro Regional Track and Field Championship--Details

  • Seven TCDSB students were selected to participate in the Canada Wide Science Fair in Winnipeg during the week of May 9-17:  Stephanie Gaglione from St. Joseph's Morrow Park High School; Jacklyn Law and and Evelyn Lam from Francis Libermann High School; Aofie McNally and Ann Peter from St. Richard ; Breanna Waye and Julia Hidalgo from Notre Dame High School.  Stephanie Gaglione was also a winner of the Petro Canada Peer Innovation Award.--Details

  • ESP Showcase Award Winners: Msgr. Percy Johnson—Bell Artistic Expression Award; St. Patrick—Chief of Police Award; Loretto Abbey—Global Outreach Award; Michael Power/St. Joseph—Growth and Development Award; St. Mary’s, Loretto College and Our Lady of Victory—Jan Thor Police Partnership Award; Msgr. Percy Johnson, Senator O’Connor and St. Mary’s—Outstanding Display Award and St. Joseph’s College—S/Insp. James Sneep Leadership Award

  • Joseph McGrade from Bishop Allen, first place winner and Alfred Chen from Mary Ward, 2nd place winner in the annual "Le concours/festival d'art oratoire" public speaking event organized by Canadian Parents for French.

  • St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic School, winner of the TCSB Employees Credit Union School Community Award--Details

  • Senior girls' hockey team from St. Basil-the-Great for winning the OFSAA Championships.

  • Students from Bishop Marrocco/Thomas Merton, Blessed Mother Teresa, Don Bosco, Father Henry Carr, James Cardinal McGuigan, Jean Vanier, Monsignor Percy Johnson, Pope John Paul II and St. Mary Catholic Secondary Schools for their successful completion of the Toronto Sport Leadership Program. Graduation is being held April 30th at Toronto City Hall.
