The Toronto Catholic District School Board is committed to education as a shared responsibility among Parents, Students, Church, Staff, the Board, and community partners.
The Ontario Ministry of Education, in its December 2005 Parent Involvement Advisory Policy, mandated the creation of Parent Involvement Committees in each school board
The Toronto Catholic District School Board is committed to ensuring that all parents and members of our culturally diverse communities have opportunities to participate in the school system and shall provide the support necessary to achieve that goal.
PIC membership includes one (1) parent representative and one (1) parent alternate elected by their peers from each of the 12 TCDSB Trustee wards. The committee will be chaired by parents. PIC includes trustee members as appointed by the Board and board staff designated as a resource to the committee. Ward representatives will serve a one or two year term.
All parents/guardians with at
least one child or more currently registered in one of our TCDSB Catholic schools. An employee of the TCDSB is not eligible to be elected to this council.
Simply complete the nomination
form included in this communication and bring it with you to the scheduled
Ward Meeting to present to the Superintendent of Education facilitating the election process.
Following the election of a Ward 1 Parent Representative, all parents are invited to take part in an introductory consultation on Catholic Education. All Catholic Boards in the Province of Ontario have been asked to coordinate system-wide consultation session with as many Catholic education stakeholders as possible by the Institute of Catholic Education (ICE).
We take the opportunity to initiate a consultation process with our parent community during this scheduled Ward meeting. Please join us and encourage families in your school community to attend. The in-put from these sessions will be recorded and submitted at the end of March.

Elections for the Parent Involvement Committee representative and alternate will be taking place at upcoming Trustee Ward Meetings. We invite all parents to attend and consider running for one of the positions in their ward. Please note that most ward meetings have already taken place.
parents are invited to a meeting on February 22nd at the Catholic Education Centre, 80 Sheppard Avenue East, North York. The meeting starts at 7:00 pm.
