Students at a desk working on something.

On April 16, 2024, the Grade 7 and 8 students of Annunciation had the privilege of attending the robotics coding workshop at Brebeuf College. Students had the opportunity to collaborate with their peers and create functional vehicles from basic stationary components. They were able to test the abilities of their creations and race with the inventions of their classmates. Additionally, the students were exposed to and actively participated in a beginner coding course using pre-constructed robotic dogs.

Students enjoyed learning the various aspects of online coding and the relationships that codes have with their designated robots. Many students felt comfortable enough with the subject to explore coding on their own following the course. They were able to extend their knowledge by experimenting with different coding patterns to create new actions for their robotic dogs. Many students thoroughly enjoyed their experience at Brebeuf and shared their plans to pursue a career that involves working with code and analysis.
