School History and Tradition

The name Blessed Sacrament refers to the presence of Christ under the appearance of bread and wine. The Blessed Sacrament is reserved in the tabernacle of the church and is central to the Catholic faith.

Blessed Sacrament Catholic School has been educating children in the north Toronto area for more than 80 years. In a strong academic environment, children learn the knowledge and skills needed for their future and grow to be caring and contributing members of their community

In 1927, our school was established in a large house near the present buildings. The Sisters of Loretto provided many of the teachers and the principal during the early years. Students moved into the new building in 1945. A large wing was added in 1965 which included a gymnasium and a library. The school has a high level of academic expectations, well-developed arts and music programs, and a tradition of strong sports teams.

The location of our school at Yonge Street and Lawrence Avenue provides fast and easy access to the Greater Toronto Area. Our location on Bedford Park is monitored on a regular basis to ensure a safe environment, and our safe arrival program ensures that late or absent students are accounted for.
