Makafui Ocloo, a standout student from Madonna Catholic Secondary School, has been honored with the prestigious University of Guelph-Humber Founders’ Academic Merit Scholarship in recognition of her exceptional academic achievements and active engagement in leadership roles and extracurricular activities.

Throughout her four-year tenure at Madonna, Makafui has demonstrated a commitment to academic excellence while actively contributing to the school community. She has notably led the Black Alliance at Madonna, represented the school at the board-wide Black Student Association, and showcased her talents as a cheerleader and dancer.

In addition to her leadership roles, Makafui has made significant contributions to mental health initiatives within Madonna and the broader community. Her accomplishments include being published in OSCA Today, presenting at the African Heritage Educators’ Network - Toronto Black Educators’ Network functions, and collaborating with various youth groups.

Makafui’s impactful spoken word pieces advocating for equity, diversity, and inclusion have resonated strongly with audiences. The staff at the University of Guelph-Humber recently presented her with this esteemed scholarship in person at Madonna, acknowledging her dedication and achievements.
